HKSAI Empowers ICT and Cosmetology Students Through Financial Literacy in Kibera

Kibera, Nairobi County — HKSAI recently held an engaging financial literacy program at the HKSAI Training Center in Kibera, bringing together students pursuing ICT and Cosmetology for an empowering learning experience led by Chris Isindu and other staffs.

Financial Literacy Program

The program was designed to equip students with practical financial knowledge that they can apply in their everyday lives and future careers. Through interactive discussions, Chris Isindu guided students through important topics including saving, budgeting, investment, opportunity costs, and financial decision-making. The students explored how emotions, peer influence, family, lifestyle, advertising, personal values and confidence can shape the way they make decisions about money.

A key message of the session was the importance of taking personal responsibility for financial choices. Students were challenged to reflect on the question, “Who is in control of your money decisions?” The interactive nature of the program gave participants an opportunity to share their thoughts, ask questions, and consider practical ways of developing healthier financial habits.

For students pursuing ICT and Cosmetology, financial literacy provides an important foundation alongside technical and vocational skills. As they prepare to enter employment, establish businesses, and pursue entrepreneurial opportunities, knowledge of budgeting, saving, and investment can help them manage their income effectively and work towards their personal and professional goals.

The program reflects HKSAI's commitment to empowering young people with skills for both employment and sustainable livelihoods. By combining vocational training with practical financial education, HKSAI is helping students build the confidence, knowledge, and decision-making skills needed to navigate their future.
