HKSAI Supports Youth as KUCCPS 2026 Application Window Opens
The Hope for Kenya Slum Adolescents Initiative has intensified its support to adolescents and youth across informal settlements following the official opening of the 2026 university and college placement application by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service.
The KUCCPS online application portal, which opened on April 7, 2026, will run until May 6, 2026, targeting the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidates as well as previous Form Four leavers. This presents a critical opportunity for thousands of young people to transition into higher education and skills training.
Empowering Adolescents Through Education
HKSAI has called on eligible students, especially those from underserved communities, to take advantage of the application window. The organization continues to champion equitable access to education, noting that many adolescents in informal settlements face barriers such as poverty, limited information, and lack of guidance.
Through its education and empowerment programs, HKSAI provides mentorship, career guidance, and scholarship opportunities aimed at supporting vulnerable youth to pursue higher education and vocational training. (LinkedIn)
According to HKSAI, education remains a powerful tool in breaking the cycle of poverty and unlocking opportunities for sustainable livelihoods among young people in Kenya’s urban informal settlements.
Strong KCSE Performance Among Beneficiaries
The organization also celebrated outstanding performance among its beneficiaries in the 2025 KCSE examinations. Recent reports indicate that a majority of supported students attained university entry grades, reflecting the impact of targeted mentorship and academic support programs. (news.hopeksai.org).

Among the top achievers are:
Milly Jesum
Blessing Naliaka
Both students scored a B Plain, securing direct university entry. Their achievement highlights the transformative impact of consistent support, resilience, and access to opportunity.
Expanding Opportunities Through TVET and Universities
With over 980,000 candidates sitting the 2025 KCSE exams, only a fraction qualify for direct university entry, while the majority are eligible for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) pathways.
HKSAI is encouraging students to consider both degree and TVET programmes, emphasizing that skills-based education offers practical pathways to employment and entrepreneurship.
The organization has been actively promoting vocational training in areas such as ICT, beauty and hairdressing, electrical technology, and other market-driven courses to enhance youth employability. (LinkedIn)
