HKSAI Celebrates Beneficiaries at Kisumu County VTCs Joint Graduation 2024–2025

Graduation Ceremony

Kisumu County — Hope for Kenya Slums Adolescent Initiative (HKSAI) has celebrated the success of its beneficiaries who graduated during the Kisumu County Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) Joint Graduation for the 2024–2025 class. The graduation ceremony, held on 31st March 2026 at Rotary Grounds, was graced by the County Government under Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and Emma Atieno Okello.

The event brought together graduates, trainers, county officials, and stakeholders to honor the dedication and resilience of trainees, while highlighting the critical role of technical and vocational education in empowering youth and creating employment opportunities. Among those celebrated were HKSAI-supported beneficiaries who successfully completed their courses:

  • Elizabeth Awuor Otieno – Certificate in Information Communication Technology (Credit)
  • Priscah Achien'g Ooko – Certificate in Food and Beverage (Hospitality)
  • Sharon Oyucho – Certificate in Fashion and Garment Making

Elizabeth Awuor Otieno was accompanied by her immensely joyful parents during the graduation ceremony, marking the achievement as a proud and memorable moment for her family.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Elizabeth Awuor expressed deep gratitude to HKSAI for its consistent support throughout their academic journey.

“On behalf of HKSAI Kisumu beneficiaries, I take this opportunity to thank HKSAI as a team for their support through the months and years. The journey has been long with many obstacles, but knowing that someone had us in their hearts kept us going,” she said.

She also extended special appreciation to the organization’s leadership, particularly Director Melvine Ouyo, acknowledging her mentorship and dedication.

HKSAI leadership, in turn, congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting youth development. Dr. Melvine Ouyo praised the graduates for their resilience and encouraged them to remain hopeful as they transition into the job market.

“Congratulations to all of you graduating. May God open job opportunities for you soon. HKSAI is your forever family,” she said.

The organization also recognized the contributions of its team members, including Chris Isindu, Brenda Robi (Project Manager), Raila Opany, Kevin Owino (Board Member), and Chairlady Eunice Murambi, whose efforts have been instrumental in mentoring and supporting the beneficiaries.

HKSAI further expressed gratitude to Population Connection for its continued financial and programmatic support, which has played a key role in enabling students to complete their training.
