HKSAI Partners with Women Peace Champions to Advance Peace and Prevent GBV in Uasin Gishu

Hope for Kenya Slums Adolescents Initiative (HKSAI), in partnership with UG Women for Peace and with support from the Echo Network Africa Foundation (ENAF), convened a Peace and Conflict Resolution dialogue that brought together women peace champions and youth from across Uasin Gishu County.

The forum provided a safe and inclusive platform for participants to share their lived experiences, examine the root causes of conflict and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and identify practical, community-driven solutions for prevention and response.

Facilitators guided participants through discussions on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), mediation, and Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) mechanisms, emphasizing the importance of addressing disputes constructively before they escalate. The session also explored community rapid-response and reporting systems designed to strengthen local peacebuilding efforts.

A key highlight of the meeting was a live demonstration of the national 1195 toll-free GBV hotline. Participants learned how to report cases of violence, navigate referral pathways, and access the support and protection services available to survivors, reinforcing the importance of timely reporting and access to justice.

Ms Brenda Sanaipei Speaking during the Event

HKSAI Project Officer, Brenda Sanaipei, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to advancing peace, preventing GBV, and empowering women and youth to serve as champions of peaceful coexistence within their communities.

The dialogue concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to work together in fostering peace, preventing violence, and building safer and more inclusive communities throughout Uasin Gishu County.
