STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGE AHEAD OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD CELEBRATION
The Uasin Gishu County Department of Gender, Education, Vocational Training, Culture and Social Protection, in partnership with the Uasin Gishu County Civil Society Network convened by the Hope for Kenya Slums Adolescent Initiative, held its first stakeholder engagement meeting yesterday in Eldoret to prepare for the upcoming International Day of the Girl Child.
The United Nations marks the International Day of the Girl Child every year on October 11th to recognize girls’ rights and highlight the challenges they face globally. Established in 2011, the day continues to provide a platform for promoting girls’ empowerment, championing for the human rights, education, and leadership.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders from both government and civil society organizations who pledged to work collaboratively to make this year’s celebration impactful.

- Executive Director – SMATKKEY Organization
- CEO – BoyChild Mentor’s
- Executive Director – Rising Shujaaz
Speaking during the session, stakeholders underscored the need to amplify the voice of the girl child, safeguard her rights, and create opportunities for her growth and participation in leadership.

HKSAI, as the convening body, emphasized that the success of the upcoming commemoration depends on joint efforts, solidarity, and investment in girls’ empowerment initiatives.
“The International Day of the Girl Child is a call to action. We urge all partners, stakeholders, and well-wishers to join hands in ensuring that the voices of girls are not only heard but acted upon,” said the Brenda Sanaipei.
The forum concluded with a call to all stakeholders and partners of goodwill to come together in support of the celebration, noting that standing for the girl child means standing for a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future.
