HKSAI Calls for Partnerships and Public Participation for International Day of the Girl Child 2026
Preparations Underway for a Landmark Celebration
Hope for Kenya Slum Adolescents Initiative (HKSAI) has officially commenced preparations for the International Day of the Girl Child 2026, scheduled to take place on 10 October 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. The event will be held under the global theme, “End Child Marriages and Invest in Girls’ Rights,” reflecting a collective commitment to protecting girls and creating opportunities that enable them to thrive.
This year's theme resonates strongly with the realities faced by many girls living in informal settlements and vulnerable communities, where challenges such as school dropout, child marriage, gender inequality, and limited access to opportunities continue to hinder their development. Through this commemoration, HKSAI and its partners seek to raise awareness, inspire action, and promote long-term solutions that safeguard the rights and future of every girl.
Strengthening Partnerships for Greater Impact
As part of the planning process, HKSAI recently participated in a multi-stakeholder meeting that brought together representatives from government institutions, civil society organizations, educational institutions, development partners, and community leaders. The discussions focused on collaborative approaches to advancing girls' rights and ensuring a meaningful and impactful celebration.
Recognizing that sustainable change requires collective effort, HKSAI is inviting organizations and institutions to partner in the planning and implementation of the event. Potential partners include non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, faith-based institutions, corporate organizations, educational institutions, media houses, and development agencies that share a commitment to empowering girls and young women.
Partnership opportunities include financial sponsorship, provision of educational materials, mentorship and career guidance programs, dignity kits, exhibition spaces, volunteer support, media coverage, talent development activities, and community outreach initiatives.
Targeting More Than 700 Participants
The 2026 celebration aims to bring together more than 700 participants, making it one of the largest girl-child empowerment events in the region. Expected participants include school-going girls, youth leaders, teachers, parents, community members, policymakers, development practitioners, and advocates for children's rights.
The event will provide a platform for girls to share their voices, showcase their talents, engage with mentors, and participate in discussions on issues affecting their well-being and future. Through interactive sessions and inspirational engagements, participants will explore practical solutions to the challenges facing girls while celebrating their achievements and potential.
